Furthermore
Furthermore supports publication of nonfiction books that concern the arts, history, and the natural and built environment.
The program was founded by Joan K. Davidson, who believed deeply in the power of books to expand knowledge, provoke thought, and inspire change. Since its inception, Furthermore has assisted nearly 1,500 books with grants totaling over $8.5 million in support.
Furthermore will hold two funding cycles in 2026. Applications for the spring cycle will open in early January, with a deadline of 1 March. Applications for the fall cycle will open in June, with a deadline of 1 September.

The J.M. Kaplan Fund
The J.M. Kaplan Fund was established in 1945 by businessman and philanthropist Jacob Merrill Kaplan (1891–1987), who was its president until 1977. Today the Fund is managed by an Operating Board that consists of J. M. Kaplan’s seven grandchildren.
